    Kaleidoscope

I sometimes wonder how I get myself in the situations I get into.  It almost feels like some higher power out there has this thing for screwing me over.  Oh by the way, my name is Damien.

    (Damien)

Now I know you have no reason to care, but just bare with me.  Who knows, you might enjoy the ride.  Or it might totally suck for you.  If so, then I can’t help that.  Now I don’t have much luck when it comes to gambling but despite what I just told you, I’m willing to bet that you want to find out why there’s a gun being pointed at the back of my head as I am kneeling beneath the stars in the middle of the Mojave Desert.

    Five Days Earlier.

This is a pretty sick hotel, I have to admit.  It has a pool table as well.  I’ve always wanted a pool table of my own.  So I play a couple of rounds with Ramon.  My other friend, Rey, sits on the couch near us, watching tv on the plasma screen.  With a cup of Black Label on the rocks right next to me, the fact that I’m losing to my fat asshole of a friend does little to effect me.  I’ve known these guys since high school, so we talk about anything.

    -“She’s using us Damien.”

He lands a shot in a corner pocket.

-“Specifically, she’s using you.  Playing you like a violin.”

Funny how every time we talk, it’s often about how I screwed up something.

-“Is it not bad enough for me that you’re kicking my ass in pool?  I’m getting lectured too?”

I take a sip of my drink.  It goes down smooth.

-“Haha!  Your lack of skill in pool is not my problem.  But that woman is.”

-“Silvia.  Yeah she’s a typical man eater.  Your point?”

Ramon is on a row.  I don’t have a chance.

-“She plays you like a violin.  It was hilarious at first, but now she’s getting us way over our heads.”

-“I know man, I know.  But what choice do I have?  She has our entire criminal record.  If we don’t help her, we go away for a long long time.”

-“True.  But it’d be nice if you stopped messing with her.”

     I am legitimately confused.

    -“Sorry, what?”

Rey mutes the tv and enlightens me in his usual way.  He turns around and bluntly says:

-“He’s trying to tell you to stop trying to sleep with her, because it’s not gonna happen, and she’s using that to her advantage to get you to do whatever she wants, and it is likely to get us all killed!”

I can’t help but be slightly offended.

-“Damn Rey.  Way to be blunt.”

-“No problem.  Just doing my job.”

Rey continues to watch tv as Ramon continues his talk.

-“Yeah.  That was pretty much the point I was trying to get across.”

I get a text message. It says: “Meet me in my room.  I’d like to chat with you in private. <3”

    -“Is that her?”

-“Uhh no.  Look I gotta go.”

I rush out, but not before I take a huge swig of the Black Label.  They are totally not onto me.

-“Uhh Ramon?  We are totally onto him aren’t we?”

    -“Oh yeah.  It’s her alright.”

I stand outside her door way and talk to myself.  Please, don’t judge me.

-“Okay.  I can do this.  She’s just a woman.  No, better, she’s a human being.  There’s no need to feel threatened.  No need at all.  I mean, come on.  You’ve been with other women before.  What makes her so different?”

As I continue to ramble with my back towards her door, she opens it up and just stares at me.  I don't notice at first.

-“I mean sure, she reminds me of someone I know.  Used to know.  Kind of know.  Complicated.  Right!  Complicated!  That’s a good word.  Yes!”

    -“It is also an adjective.”

She speaks in an awesome British accent.  I turn around pretty quick and notice she’s wearing a business casual outfit with a her shirt buttoned down enough for me to see her pink bra.

-“Uhh uhhh hi!  Silvia.  How are……uhh…..You look good!  Uhhh….this isn’t what it looks like……uhhhh haha funny story…uhhh…..you see there’s this thing.”

She smiles the kind of smile that only Silvia Night could do.

-“I love it when little boys try to cover their tracks!  It’s like I’m your mother, catching you while you’re touching yourself in the bedroom.”

-“Uhh…..well that’s not the metaphor I’d use in this kind of situation.”

-“I doubted that you would appreciate a double entendre when you see one.  Come in.  Close the door.”

I don’t even know what that word means but I do as Miss Night says.  She sits in the corner of her bed as I sit on a stool directly in front of her wide screen tv.  She is sucking on a lollypop as she tells me her latest plans.  I feel vulnerable.

    -“I really want that diamond.”

    -“Diamond?”

-“I’m going to get comfortable.  Do you mind?”

-“It’s your room.  Mind if I smoke?”

-“Not at all, go right ahead.”

She goes to the bathroom and I lose sight of her.

-“By any chance, are you a conspiracy theorist?”

    -“Not really, why?”

-“Do you have any type of hope for humanity?”

-“Honestly, I don’t think about it much.”

-“Well, in my line of work, this would be considered grounds for termination, if I tell you this information.  However…….”

I notice her blazer falling to the ground on the doorway.

-“…….I’m afraid if you’re going to be efficient in this mission, you have to know the naked truth.”

I try to sneak a peak, this stool isn’t make it easy.

    -“Uhh….yeah go on.”

-“The world is a corrupt place, ruled by dangerous criminal organizations.  Dangerous men……ughh, can't get these garters off me!.....There we go.....with corporate partners, ruling as some sort of underground shadow society.”

She tosses her garters at the door way with the blazer.

    -“Uh huh.  I’m listening.”

-“These organizations are here in Vegas.  In this very casino.  And they all want something I want.  A diamond.”

Her white blouse is tossed at the door way.

-“A diamond that is so rare, it is literally the only one of it’s kind, in this world.”

I’m leaning as far as I can, listening to everything she’s saying.  At least as much as any man can when put in this situation.

    -“You don’t say!”

-“It is a blood diamond, if left in the wrong hands, could finance an entire cartel for years.  My sources say it may have come from Sierra Leone.  Though I’m not certain.”

    Her bra joins the pile.

-“That diamond is here, in the casino, and is being secretly auctioned to whoever is willing to pay the price for it.  Whoever the auctioneer is, clearly doesn’t understand it’s true value.  I need you and your beloved friends to do what you do best and perform a robbery for me.  I need that diamond, and I want it by any means necessary.”

She drops her panties into the pile, and I immediately fall off the side of the stool in a loud thump.  I get up and dust myself off as quickly as possible with my cigarette firmly in my mouth.  Just in time too, for Miss Night finally arrives in a bathrobe.  I stand in attention and hope she doesn’t notice that the stool is on its side.

-“Getting this diamond is going to be tricky.”

She pours a glass of champagne for herself.

-“If you guys do this for me, you can be assured that your records won’t be revealed to the public and you get a nice get out of jail free card.  Plus, feel free to steal the money from the vault if you so desire.  That will be your pay.  However, this is going to take time and much planning.  So I need you to do something a little special for me.”

    -“I’m all ears.”

    She gives me an envelope.

-“Go to this address.  Her photo is inside.  I think it’ll be something that is of your caliber!"

     (Justin)

My name is Justin and today I'm having a bad day.  I get punched in the gut so hard, it feels like I'm gonna vomit out my intestines.

-"Get up you piece of shit! GET UP!"

My lungs are on fire.  I can barely make out where I am.  I want to kill this guy, so badly.  To think, that at some point in time, we grew up together.  He puts a gun to my chin and forces me to look into his eyes.

-"Now, I don't want to hear any more lip from you.  Or your family dies.  Your ma, your bro, your twin sister, everyone, gone.  You got that?"

I nod.  What choice do I have?  What choice are you giving me Jacob?

    -"Frank!  Get over here."

Frankie, how did it ever come to this?  I used to protect you in high school.  How could you do me like that, after all we been through together?

-"Pick his ass up.  I can't even stand the stench of him."

    -"No problem Jake."

He picks me up by the shoulders.

-"Shouldn't have talked back, Justin.  That was a dumb move."

-"Yeah Frank....looks like you're absolutely right."

-"Just listen to what he has to say.  It'll be over soon."

I'm standing, but my legs are still shaking.  When the time comes, Jacob, I will get my family back.

-"Now.  You're gonna kill a man for me.  You're a killer, whether you like it or not.  Everything up to this point that has happened to your family is the fault of yourself and the actions you made in your life.  You can decide if they live or die."

I find myself in a window, blocks away from my target.  I have no choice.  I have to kill a man.  I have to pull the trigger, and if I don't.  If I refuse.  My family is dead.  I can't let that happen.  Whoever it is that I see through the scope.  A man in a suit, surrounded by tight security.  Whoever you are.  Just know I'm sorry.  For all I know, you could have a family of your own.  A son, daughter, wife, dog, whatever.  And what I'm doing to you is exactly what these bad men are doing to me.  I'm sorry.  I wish I got to know you.  Perhaps we would've been friends.  But right now I gotta do this.  I have no choice.  I ask God for forgiveness, and hope you'll do the same for me when its all over.  I pull the trigger.

     (Andy)

My name is Andy and I am the best at what I do, and to quote my favorite comic book character. "....and what I do, isn't nice."  I'm on a private plane to Vegas.  It is about 6:00 in the morning, and the sun is shining.  The stewardess is really nice to me.  Now, I'm on my way to Sin City on a business trip.  Lately I have to admit despite how serious my line of work is, it is definitely something I have fun at doing.  And you know what?  It scares me.  I wasn't always like this you know.  But hey, I wouldn't have this kind of life if my dad didn't get whacked.  He got killed, and I found out he was one of the best hitmen in the business, all in one night.  I was 12.  That kind of information really messes with you.  It is an unfortunate thing.  My father's choices and lifestyle led to his death and yet I'm here leading that same life, like a son carrying a tragic curse.  It was my decision really.  Can't really blame anyone but myself.  I gotta job to do, and that job is waiting for me 30000 feet below.  And who knows.  Maybe one day I'll come face to face with the son of a bitch who killed my

Back door casinos are especially fascinating to me.  They remind of me of speakeasies of the 1920s.  You probably wonder why people would even go to backdoor, secret, and illegal casino when they're just so many on the Strip.  Well here's the thing my friends.  These backdoor places are places where underground illegal activity take place.  Drug deals.  Weapon's smuggling  That sort of thing.  The casino part is just a facade, albeit an uncreative one.  My client, the Don of the local crime family, wants these men dead.  They aren't that many.  About 12 counting their profits.  So it was a pretty quick job when I stormed in their with a silenced sub machine gun.  They never saw it coming!  After the skirmish, I call my contact on my phone.

-"Your wife's home made cheese cake has been delivered to the party.  They send their deepest thanks, and wish you were able to join them."

-"Fine work my boy.  You pass the test.  I could use a man like you at Caesar's Palace.  There's a certain diamond I want in my possession, and I could use a good bodyguard.  The pay is good."

-"You did just say the pay is good."

I hang up, go to a nearby soda machine, have a drink of Sierra Mist, and go about my day.

    (Eddie)

I arrive at the bar.  Why does this feel like a blind date.  I look and see a woman in a black dress, she has dark hair and looks like she in her 30s.  I sit by her at the bar.

    -"Hey there."

She looks and instantly recognizes me.

    -"You're the guy?"

    -"You're alive?!"

-"You look surprised.  Why don't we.....go back to my room upstairs?"

    -"After you."

I follow her.  I know it's a bad idea, considering our history, but I do it anyway.  She looks fine!  The black dress is very elegant.  The lady sure knows her stuff. We get inside and she makes a drink at the bar.

We take a sip.  It's good.  It's quiet.

-"You mind?  I'm gonna use the lady's room."

    -"Do what you gotta do."

She goes to the bathroom and I just sip my drink.  I have so many questions.  I talk as I look in the mirror.

-"You know. If I didn't see you at the bar with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed you'd be still alive."

As I look at my reflection a knife is thrown at me.  I duck and the knife goes through the wooden outline of the mirror.  She runs towards me really fast, I couldn't dodge in time.  My back hits the wall.  I grab her ankle and flip her over.  She spins her legs back on her feet, smacking me in the face.  I hit the drawer, my chin hurts.  She tries to punch me but I grab her arm.  I grab her other arm and I over power her little by little.  I flip her on her back.  She flips onto her feet and grabs a broom.  She has skill with the weapon, like a pole staff.  I block her strikes, and I'm quick on my feet.  I do a vertical ax kick towards her head.  She uses her broom to block, I snap the broom in two.  I knock her on her back.  She rolls backwards as she falls and I finally pin her down with my body, my pocket switch blade aimed at her throat. We pant as we glare at each other.

-"Pardon my bluntness but I wouldn't move if I were you, given your position."

    She slows her breathing.

-"Nice to see you by the way, Mona."

She doesn't say anything and looks away.

-"I clearly remember you getting blown up the last time I saw you."

-"Clearly you don't remember me very well, or you would've figured out by now that I die hard."

-"What do you know about all this?  Tell me!"

-"I know that you're being used.  I know that you're in way over your head.  I know that this is something that is too big for a punk like you to understand.  There is a lot that I know, but what do YOU know?"

-"I know that I don't have a choice.  I also know that you have a way to get inside the backroom, a key of some sort.  I know that it is in your coat since I saw it slip out of the pocket after you knocked me near your dresser.  For what it's worth, I know enough to get by."

It takes a few minutes, but I eventually handcuff her onto the toilet seat.

-"How long do you think you're going to even last in there once the bad guys find you out!?"

I look down at her and say:

-"I think I'm pretty good at surviving.  After all I survived you."

I close the door and leave her prisoner.  I put on my ipod and just tune out the world as I walk by a couple of waitresses that are probably on break or something, talking to each other.  They seem pretty excited but I don't hear them, nor is it any of my business.

-"Christie!  Christie!  It's real!  It's real I tell you, it's real!"

    -"Anjali calm down!  What's real?"

-"The diamond!  It's been confirmed.  The diamond is real."

-"You....You've seen it?!  Oh my God, what was it like?"

-"Beautiful.  As big as a man's fist as I recall.  But most importantly, my dear partner in crime, it is shiny!"

-"Oh my God, I knew it!  How did you catch a glimpse of it?"

-"I was doing my rounds.  Blending in.  A fly on the wall!  As subtle as a shadow."

    (Anjali)

I remember it fondly, just like I remember getting into an argument with my mother on the phone about priorities and other such nonsense!  She can never understand!  But I can.  Everything became perfectly clear once I laid eyes on that diamond.  If I steal that thing, there's no way she can consider me a failure.  I wore my uniform like a professional waitress ought to!  With a little bit of unnecessary cleavage to get better tips of course, BUT also to look presentable as I serve these awful men their drinks.  Suddenly I see it!  The diamond, being presented by a scary looking man wearing black and red.  Not sure why he stands out to me but it doesn't matter.  I can't help but stare at the diamond, meanwhile, spilling wine all over some mafia Don's pants, with a guy named Andy or whatever, trying to calm him down.  I got out of there quickly and I relay the story to Christie!

-"I brought absolutely no attention to myself!  The diamond was then locked away in a safe, to be presented behind this big curtain for all to see in this hive of scum and villainy!"

    -"This is so exciting!"

-"I know right!  This is it!  Our big score!  For the world's most notorious villains will not know what hit them when they find out that they were robbed by Anjali and Christie!  The two most notorious jewel thieves in all the land!"

    (Damien)

The next couple of days go by smoothly.  As I sit on the couch and watch some news report involving some guy being assassinated by an unseen gunman, Rey and Ramon update me via text message on their work.  Rey got us a getaway vehicle with a huge trunk, for any money we can take for ourselves.  Ramon, using his connections with a cousin that works in maintenance, got himself access to the power grid.  In just a short while, I'll give him the signal, and he'll shut down the power, and the heist will begin!

    (Justin)

It's midnight and I'm literally digging my own grave while Jacob points a gun at me and Frank just chills out on the hood of the car.  I've been doing work for these guys for so long, I guess I finally used up my usefulness.  I can't say much about my family though.  Frank assures me that they'll keep their word, that they'll be safe.  I want to believe him.  Jacob talks up a storm.  I try not to listen.

-"It's almost poetic.  Isn't it?  You end your long and arduous journey under the stars in the wilderness.  And look at that, it just so happens to be a full moon.  You can hear the coyotes in the distance.  So go ahead, keep digging, and appreciate the beauty of it all."

I keep digging, looking around for any opportunity available.  A rock.  A stick.  Something to provide enough distraction to get me out of this mess.  A speeding vehicle drives over the ridge above us and is falling right towards us.  I move out of the way while Jacob and Frank freak out.  The car disappears over the next bend and I hear it crash.  I don't have time to think about it.  I smack Frank hard in the face with the shovel and ironically he falls into the same pit I dug for myself.  I see Jacob reach for his gun.  I stomp on his hand and make sure I hear all 27 of his bones cracking.  I think I'm gonna take my time before I check out the car wreckage!

     (Andy)

When you work a security detail, you tend to hope in your mind for something exciting to happen.  I mean when you work in a place like this, with people like that, its almost expected.  Well, for once reality met my expectations when the entire casino suffers a massive black out.  I mean freakin pitch black, we're talkin Biblical right here.  The boss gave me specific instructions if something like this would happen.  I can imagine all the illegitimate organizations having sneaking little back up plans of their own.  It didn't take long for things to hit the fan and for shots to be fired.  So while everyone was so delightfully distracted, I got through the chaos and past the curtain, where the diamond ought to be.  As I go in, the lights come back on, and what I see was mighty interesting.  What I see before me is a woman hanging from a rope on a vent, cracking the code to the safe and holding the diamond.

-"Christie, you have to see this thing!  The colors are beautiful!"

I can't help but make a snide comment.

-"They really need to up the security here.  This place is full of criminals."

    -"Christie, pull me up, now!"

She tries, but no dice, I shoot the rope just before she gets half way.  She falls to the ground and holds the diamond on tight.  As far as her accomplice goes, she went and bolted.

-"That was really a dumb move, lady."

The person that was holding her up speaks.

-"Hold on I'll come and get you!"

-"Don't worry about me, go get help!"

    -"Okay!  Don't die on me."

The voice disappears into the vents.  I'll take care of her later.  This girl has what I need to get payed.

     (Christie)

I'm panicking as I try to make my way through these vents.  I've never been claustrophobic, but I think after this, I just might be!  I hope Anjali makes it out of there alive....God....I gotta focus!  I gotta get over myself and find a way through these vents!  Hold on Anjali!  Help is coming.  Somehow....  As I'm lost in my thoughts I fall through one of the vents by accident.  I land in some hotel room in front of the bathroom.  I hit the floor so hard my ass hurts!  The impact of my fall forces the door the slide open just enough for me to see some woman handcuffed on the toilet seat.  What kind of hotel is this?!

    -"Pssst!  Hey!  You!"

I look at her in astonishment.

    -"What the hell?"

    -"Yeah.  Little help?"

     (Eddie)

The mission has been running smoothly.  While it was pitch black, the boys and I, with a pair of night vision goggles courtesy of the lovely Silvia Night and her mysterious connections, robbed the main vault, and took as much pay day as we could while the chaos downstairs resumed.

-"Alright guys, get out of here while it's still dark before the cops get here.  I'll get the diamond."

I love Rey and his response.

-"Kay man, good luck and don't get killed."

Inspiring words!  I go up the vent that we used from the hotel room where I left Mona.  I make my way down, and a few minutes pass as the power gets back on.  I look down and see a guy with a hat walking towards some chick holding the diamond.  I jump right in and land a clean kick on the guy, knocking him out.  I then point my gun at the girl.

-"I'd let go of that if I were you."

She gives me the diamond and I am amazed at it's beauty, I gotta admit.  Putting the diamond through the light, I see colors, very much like the colors of a kaleidoscope.  It's sure not like any diamond I've ever seen.  My phone vibrates, signaling that the guys made it out and it's time to go.  I get to the getaway vehicle, which doesn't have a hood, making it easier to just jump in and bolt out of there.

    (Andy)

You wouldn't believe this.  Just as I grab the girl's arm, I see that she is the clumsy waitress from earlier.  Why I'm not surprised?  Suddenly, without warning, some guy comes out of the vent above us and kicks me in the head.  I can't say I remember much else after that, but for some reason he felt kind of familiar.

    (Damien)

Ramon sure drives like a maniac, but does a good job in avoiding unnecessary bloodshed.  We may not be perfect but we sure as hell don't need innocent people's blood on our hands if we could help it.  Ramon yells out the next course of action as he drives and I sit on the back seat.

-"We're gonna head through the high way, and half way there will be our check point at a motel.  Silvia will meet us there and we can deliver the diamond with no problem!"

-"Alright Ramon, if you say so.  Just try to get us there in one piece!"

    -"No promises!"

    Rey turns around and asks.

-"So what was happening in there?"

-"It's crazy.  These guys are really bad guys.  Smugglers.  Killers.  Human traffickers.  Maybe even terrorists.  Hopefully, if we're lucky, this won't bite us in the ass right?"

-"Oh what are the odds of that happening?"

Gotta love Rey and his sarcastic wit.  But he makes a good point.  We pissed off the wrong people.  If we're not careful, this could come back to haunt us.  All for a stupid diamond.  Speaking of one's past coming to haunt him.....Rey yells.

-"Damien look out!  There's a crazy woman trying to kill you!"

Mona, with the help of two women who are in a car similar to our own, jumps from her seat and onto mine.  Her boot is really close to my face as I struggle to hold her leg back with my arms.

-"Thanks Rey, I can see that."

She's wearing a black shirt, military pants, and black combat boots.

-"Gaahhhhh, you changed your clothes?  When did you have time to do that?!"

-"I like to dress for the occasion.  This one being me kicking your ass if you don't give me the fucking diamond."

    Ramon turns around.

    -"Is that Mona?"

    -"Yes Ramon, it's her."

    -"Jesus Christ!"

    -"I thought she was dead!"

-"She was dead, Rey, but apparently she's come back from the dead.  Now since you're on the passenger seat.....ughhh.....can you please help me before she crushes my throat!?"

She points a gun at Rey.  Amazing how balanced she is with Ramon's driving and all.

-"Don't even try it.  Alright fat man, I want you to stop the car in the next corner, or I'll put a bullet in your friend here."

-"Does she have to comment on my weight?"

The two ladies driving beside us through the desert comment on the situation.

-"Umm if I were you guys, I'd give her the diamond."

-"Yeah Anjali. You're right.  She's kind of a badass."

I look at Mona, still holding onto her boot, sweat caking my brow.

    -"Friends of yours?"

-"Just a couple of intelligent people who have agreed to help me out for a large sum of money in exchange for the diamond."

-"Yeah, well.  Maybe you should get to know them better."

I summon all of my strength and push her off me and the car seat.  She holds onto the car door with her hands, while she holds onto ours with her feet.  We are locked in a small road, going on high speeds with a crazy women who has tried to kill me many times over, balancing herself on both cars.  Both our car, and their car are locked on opposite bumpers, causing sparks to fly.

-"Damn it, that was not what I had planned."

-"What are you waiting for, get her off!"

-"Thanks Rey.  Yelling.  That's all I need."

She struggles, kicking me in the face a couple of times as I try to push her legs off.

-"This is really unpleasant!  Christie!  What should we do!?"

-"I don't know!  I think we need to get her off!"

    Mona glares at the girl.

    -"Don't you dare!"

I sit back and look at the beautiful night sky, while I smoke a cigarette.

-"Well the bright side is, since it's midnight, at least there aren't any cars to worry about."

I always speak too soon.  A black car hits us right from behind, causing Mona to lose her grip and bounce all over the pavement and over the ridge, down a steep ravine below us.  I couldn't tell if she made it or not.  The girls on the other hand disappear behind us, probably as a result of hitting the breaks.  I get the feeling I may not see that last of them.  The vehicle that hit us looks like it belong to one of the mafias we encountered.  It hits us once again, and we lose control as we fly through a tight right turn, over a small cliff.  The next few minutes, I can barely remember.

I sometimes wonder how I get myself in the situations I get into.  It almost feels like some higher power out there has this thing for screwing me over.  Oh by the way, my name is Damien.  At least, that's what I tell myself in case I forgot my own name since my head hurts real bad.  So here I am, dirty from the sand and dust, on my knees as a man in a deep voice aims a gun to my head on one hand, and the diamond in his other hand.

-"Know what kid?  You got guts.  But that right there, had to be the dumbest stunt I have ever seen.  And I've seen plenty in my time."

I look around to see if Rey and Ramon are okay.  They appear knocked out on the ground.  The man cocks the gun.

    -"Say good night."

Funny thing about last thoughts.  They say your life flashes before your eyes right before you die.  So why do I keep thinking about my mother yelling at me after she found my secret porn stash back when I was 15?  Talk about disappointing.  A gunshot is fired, but it's not on me.  The guy behind me falls to his side.  I look and see that guy with the fedora hat, and his gun freshly smoked from the shot.

    -"Andy?  Is that you?"

    -"That it is old friend."

-"What are the chances of us meeting like this?"

-"Second to none, yet here we are!"

He helps me up and gives me a cigarette.  He looks at me and smiles.

    -"You look like shit."

-"Thanks.  I feel like shit.  What are you doing here anyway?"

-"Looking for my father's killer.  I've been doing that for awhile Damien."

    -"So.....how's that coming along?"

-"Don't be a smartass.  You're lucky I was here to help you.  And that I got those two idiots safely out of that wreckage."

-"Great.  You mind helping me with the diamond?"

Some stranger comes out of no where and says.

    -"You mean this diamond?"

Andy and I look and see a tall African American dude holding the diamond in his palm.  We find out later that his name is Justin.  Nice guy.

-"Figured this belongs to you.  And that you might need a little help, now that you accidentally saved my life."

So there you have it folks.  A happy ending.  Now that wasn't so bad was it?  You got to laugh.  There was action.  Women with attitudes.  Drama.  Moral questions.  And no one got seriously hurt!  Except for the bad guys I mean.  After all this, I'd say it was a pretty good time waster!  Sure they're loose ends, but that's how life is.  There can't be a simple conclusion to everything and not every question can be answered.  Though there is one loose end that will be bugging me for a long time.  I just hope it doesn't come back to haunt me.

     (Mona)

I am tired and beaten all over.  I've been walking on the road for hours now, trying my best to hitch a ride back to civilization.  Haven't had much luck  I can't help but feel like a failure to my employers.  I can't even call for a pick up since my radio and phone are broken.  A car finally stops for me.  About fucking time.  The door is opened and a young man wearing a black and red suit and fedora hat shows himself.  He is one of the men who was at the auction. For the first time in a long time, I'm scared.  He is young and wild, but something about him seems wrong.  He makes me an offer I dare not refuse.

    -"Get in."
